basically, Jesuslaves, your argument is that Pantera (beginning with Cowboys), essentially released 5 straight groove/thrash albums, beginning at the height of thrash's popularity and ending somewhere towards the height of the nu-metal revolution.
so, even though the trends kept changing, Pantera kept releasing the same shit. but obviously, were simultaneously following the trends?

ok, so releasing a "thrash" album while the genre was losing popularity was following a trend?
It sure wasn't breaking any trends.
and if this is a thrash album, then so is Far Beyond Driven, which you cannot argue was released when thrash was dead... so were they following a trend there?
They sure weren't breaking any trends.
They formed as a glam band when glam was cool, then they conveniently switched to thrash/groove when thrash was in, then they changed again when a litany of genres like death metal and a few different kinds of melodic shit were in (they followed the latter and rode that trend, just not to the level of Megadeth or Metallica).
and Trendkill is not so atmospheric or progressive that it can't be considered the same genre as this, so how is it not a "trendkiller"?
They did what Iron Maiden did from Seventh Son to Prayer/Dying. Didn't change genres drastically, but they changed enough. Only difference is Maiden never gloated about being trendkillers, bashed people for being fake, or anything like that. But Maiden wasn't really following trends either, they just did it because they felt like it.
That was released during post-grunge, nu-metal and melodeath mania... you're contradicting yourself broseph.
Nu-metal was in it's infancy then. The other two weren't the only things in.

Not at all.

Me not liking your shit really gets to you, huh? lolz
My advice: re-evaluate your priorities in life. If me thinking Deftones is dog shit is the equivalent to pouring hot coffee on your crotch, then you need help. Badly.
dude, this IS the first nu-metal album. Get yer shit right bro
No. It may have spawned parts of the genre but this isn't nu-metal.
Jesuslaves shits on anything he considers nu-metal.
Except Dope. And some Sevendust.
Btw gaiz he considers Saliva to be 'good nu-metal'
No, just not quite as bad as Deftones and Rammstein.
