this album comes close to being top tier, but it's often just a bit too cheesily 80's with those stupid synths. but both tony's are working their asses off here. so many amazing solos, probably some of Iommi's all time best imo

counter clockwise discog walk: "Headless Cross/Devil & Daughter/Call Of The Wild/Nightwing" are a fun jam. Another great guitar performance by the metal living god.
Vocalist Dio is on top of his performance. Edit: Tony, not Dio, oups
3.7.

Could never really get into this one but I dig Cross Purposes, beefier sound but still Martin flavored

I went into this after reading the review expecting some flashy uplifting Dragonforce-style cheese, now I’m just enjoying the hell out of this while laughing hard at the review

Yeah, this is one of those albums that people appreciated with time. Maybe the most underappreciated in Black Sabbath's discog.

I'd say Cross Purposes is their most underappreciated because it gets way more flak, when the production and grooves on it bang pretty hard

My parents had this on tape when I was younger. I haven't heard it since back then from what I recall but I just threw it on and man this is quite a bit better than I'd expected so far. That solo on the title track is tasty as hell. Also shocked by how much Tony actually sounds like Dio at times too

Best way to enjoy this is to not compare it too much to their 70s work. This is a different beast altogether

This Is actually a pretty good album. The comments here are pretty silly. Headless cross is a sick track

Fantastic agreed. This is way better than this joke of a review tries to claim

The cold atmosphere and 80's keyboards really do make this one of their more unique works
