This is not bad for its genre it fits in fine. Nu metal is a mixture of genres imo Its like pop metal so theres going to be some silly quirkiness mixed with the grittiness. Its in a way designed to get maximum sales by opening up the market share. You will get alot of women folk liking this as well i think. Its a vocal hook ridden heavy rythmic guitar driven double bass drum punching extravaganza. I liked this album more than asylum which is the only other one ive heard so far but they are very similar accross the board. Ill give it a pass, its good.

This isn't a nu metal album in any way.

Heres a summary on this web site of bands of this genre Nu Metal

Drowning Pool, Godsmack, Avenged Sevenfold, Korn, Five Finger Death Punch

It fits quite nicely in with that bunch. What genre do you think it fits in to?

The singer's vocal style got boring really quick.

@Snooze00 I have no idea how Avenged Sevenfold and Five Finger Death Punch could ever be considered nu metal, but anyways, I'd say this album qualifies as alternative metal, and just plain old heavy metal. It clearly takes a lot of its influence from The Big 4 and Black Sabbath more than it does funk metal and rap metal.

I actually prefer Believe to this. As for The Sickness, I think I prefer every other Disturbed album to that lol.

understandable, The Sickness has some very goofy moments (Droppin' Plates is one of my least favorite nu metal songs ever), i just felt the first 2 albums (especially Believe, which was great) had a different vibe to them that Disturbed's newer, more classic metal influenced albums lack

@Sapientlife I have that album as a 3. I somewhat enjoy it, but like you said, I think it's the goofy

moments that really get me the most. Meaning of Life is just hilarious, and the "freak out" part of

Down With the Sickness can get so awkward. I basically just feel like Draiman wears his trademark scat

vocals out far too much and it just gets old rather quickly. Other than that the album as a whole just

sounds like really unremarkable industrial-tinged nu metal to me. It is a pretty nostalgic style for

me though since I grew up in that era, so I'd call it a guilty pleasure for me in a way.

@Snooze00 I said that this album qualifies as alternative metal. I was talking about The Sickness when I said it sounds like really unremarkable industrial-tinged nu metal to me, not this album.
