Album is clearly getting overrated. This is lacking something...something that Saturday Night Wrist had.
SNW always came across as more of a compilation to me, sound wise. Every track had something completely different on offer; that's not a bad thing at all, but it sometimes made the album seem slightly disjointed. This feels more like a proper album, there's a nice flow that carries this album. That, and it's paced perfectly

That's probably it bassdemon. The tracks in SNW aren't completely different. All the elements present on the album were in most tracks.

This feels like the only complete Deftones record to me, lie Deviant said SNW did seem like a compilation.

SNW is still better than this even with Pink Cellphone

I WANT THIS. Awesome review!

I really don't think it's a 5/5, Saturday Night Wrist is still my favourite

Precisously. Still a good album after a couple of listens!

SNW is still my least favorite Deftones record, and I think it's precisely for the reason Deviant mentioned -- it just seems like a collection of songs and less like an album (which is a characteristic every other Deftones record has). That being said, I still have SNW rated at a 4..

MuzikManiac: clearly, you are not the only one with that opinion. and I'm only quoting from this page.

I wouldn't put this higher than White Pony or SNW, but I wouldn't put it below it either. They are all beautiful albums.

Chill out motocross lol, congrats on your good deeds. Let's lay off the heavy album comparisons already, and just enjoy some new Tones and one of their best records yet. This album literally makes me feel like a badass for 41 minutes straight, something that can't be said about SNW =)

my favorites keep changing. Diamond Eyes, Beauty School, Prince, Royal, Sextape, You've Seen the Butcher and Risk have all spent time as my favorite song, they're all just too good. The one thing I think I have decided is that 976-Evil is my least favorite (notice how I say least favorite and not worst).

^that would be second least favorite for me, right behind 976-Evil. Which sucks, because Deftones album closers are usually some of the strongest tracks. But if that's the only complaint with this album, that the last two songs aren't quite as good as the rest, then it's pretty damn good.

maybe I just need to give it more listens.. although I think I've got about 12 plays on that song already haha. It's not bad, just not one of my favorites. My favorite chorus right now is Prince, it reminds me of all the good parts on ATF.

Hell yeah, the atmosphere of White Pony is prevalent in Prince's verses and a very ATF-esque chorus indeed. that song is so ridiculous. Royal is the most brutal the Tones have sounded in awhile and it is glorious

I agree, Royal is heavy as hell. Heaviest thing they've done since the last minute or so of Bloody Cape.
