YES BigHans comes through in the clutch! I totally forgot about RIP and Metal Edge!!

Haha, but yeah, Pantera were legends before they even broke up and Dime was a legend already as well. I had the luxury of seeing Pantera in 2001 on their last tour (with Soulfly and Nonpoint) and everyone who went to that show knew the importance of it (it was pretty obv that it was going to be their last tour).

I can't believe Greenman (as much as I love the It's Always Sunny reference) actually thinks Pantera sucks just because they influenced nu-metal. What about Faith No More, Red Hot Chili Peppers, fuck, even Metallica's groovey parts plus stuff like Helmet and Fugazi... ALL that stuff was a MAJOR influence on nu metal and it's all pretty good music too.

And let's not forget the alt/metal part of nu-metal movement (Staind, Puddle of Mudd, later-era Godmack and Sevendust) that's main influence was....Alice In Chains. Godsmack even took their fucking name from an Alice In Chains song. So... it's a moot point from the Greenman anyways.

preach it brother. Godsmack blatantly ripped off AIC, from the name, to the Chains imitating logo, and the fact their acoustic EP, while stellar, is a huge rip off of Jar of Flies.

Yeah Hans, the older Godsmack get the more they sound like AIC. And they sounded A LOT like them in the first place. I'm not denying that Pantera had an influence on nu metal, but I am saying that's no reason to hate them. Plenty of great bands influenced nu metal, not just Pantera. It's obvious Greenman wasn't born when this album came out.

I think Helmet Meantime had a much bigger influence on Nu Metal personally. Most of the Nu Metal bands sound like Yanni compared to Pantera on this album.

Aliens are starting to write reviews about earth music, the minute they set foot on the planet.

the thing to worry is that there isn't ONE person to prevent them from doing so, every now and then.

I nominate Phil Anselmo. I challenge anyone to talk to that guy for more than five minutes without wanting to get the fuck off this planet.

He'll probably write one proclaiming that Metallica is pure death metal.

I was thinking that he was going to rip apart Alive or Just Breathing because it created crunk-core.

Anyone who would talk shit on AIC cannot be taken seriously. If Greenman posts a review dissing Jerry Cantrell for influencing nu metal, then we know that he is actually a robot.

I wasn't dissing AIC (couldn't tell if you think I was or not); I was just saying that Greenman hating on Pantera for influencing nu-metal is stupid since one of his favorite bands (AIC) is probably a bigger influence on the genre than Pantera.
