nah you don't have to understand opera, i mean it's obviously a really unconventional opera - just as unconventional as "classical" music as it is "pop" music

i think it's best appreciated as a fully conceived work of art.. sometimes it's a bit exhausting to listen to but when i do sit through the whole thing it's really rewarding

^ilu cause you know what pop music means...not that I am surprised in anyway shape or form.

i don't really have a comprehensive knowledge of "pop" because i'm starting to think that the concept of "pop" is either (a) irrelevant or (b) meaningless

Well my grandfather always told me that Igor Stravinksy was pop music. I tend to disagree with that. I generally fall under the belief that music is most openly divided into "Classical" (well not really but for the sake of arguement we'll call it all this) then jazz, avant-garde and pop.

However something like Radiohead falls very clearly into avant, pop and jazz so genres are pretty pointless.

genres are pointless aside from the fact that they make it marginally easier to navigate massive record inventories..

unless you are trying to find a copy of In the Aeroplane over the Sea because god knows if they have a world, folk and rock section it is going to be in the last one you look at.

im not sure if i was surprised, i didnt know what to expect going in. Cmon dev, 2? Id think tracks like seeds and colouring of pigeons would bump this higher than that even if you didn't like what they were going for here. Like the deadmau5 dig though.

It is not a mess, it plays on its premise of evolution by slowly evolving into pop music. It's conceptually brilliant.

I was going to post all my top albums which are super long but it is easier to say the High Violet and Phil Selway's familial (most underrated album of the year) are the only normal length ones.

yeah, its definitely deserving of more love than it's gotten. I get the split opinion on this, but it should at least have more attention, hopefully end of the year lists will at least give it a little more.
