Navarro receives a lot of unwarranted hate. He is a pretty great guitarist. That said, Frusciante's relevance to the band is certainly NOT exaggerated.

Chili Pepper fanboys hate on Navarro for some odd reason. Navarro's guitar work on some of Jane's Addiction stuff is up there with anything Frusciante has done.

Frusciante isn't amazing technically. cant comment on his song writing ability, as I dunno what songs he takes credit for

He plays with real emotion, I could listen to his playing all day.

It's not always about technical playing imo. For example I don't care at all for Satriani/Steve Vai and what not. I hate when the guitar sounds like it was played by a machine.

oh god I hate Vai. But Satriani gets treated unfairly IMO. some of his songs are pretty emotional and well written.
