It's gonna grow on you... Exponentially.. Until you just can't help rating it a 5.

Doubt it. IDK why, but at a lot of points I was either like, hm, rather listen to As Cities Burn or eh, much rather Fall Out Boy.
IDK MAN

Fair call witchxrapist, you clearly think it's stuck in between the 2 genres (post-hardcore & pop-punk). I can see why & don't disagree. Personally, I like the balance & compromise. To each their own.

That's what happened to me. My first rating was 3.

The super glossy production puts me off a lot.

I'm cool with mixing sounds, I just think they could've done to be a bit less derivative idk.

"That's what happened to me. My first rating was 3." Haha. I'm warning them in advance.
"The super glossy production puts me off a lot." I wouldn't call it "super glossy", but it is pretty slick. I still believe there is a raw enough feel behind it all & the production simply brings out the melodies more.
"I just think they could've done to be a bit less derivative idk." I know I'm in the minority here, but being (for want of a better term) derivative has never been a huge problem for me. Sure, it's great when a band comes out with something super original, but that doesn't happen too often. Personally, if a band can do something similar - BUT BETTER - than other similar bands, then that's what I look for just as much.

So I've been meaning to check these guys out for at least a year now, so after seeing this review I figured I'd start here. After the first 3 or so listens, I'm very impressed. Some really awesome stuff here, we'll have to see how it stands up over the next month or so. I'm sitting at about a 3.5/4 right now.
Oh yeah, vocals remind me a lot of Receiving End of Sirens. And I dig that.

Great to hear you liked it Cush... And it could very well grow on you.
I gotta be honest with you, as much as people have badgered me to check them out, I've been a little lazy with invested proper time with the Receiving End of Sirens. I think it's about time I did.

Definitely check out Between the Heart and the Synapse before The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi. They're not quite as aggressive or dissonant as Emery, but the vocals and harmonies really bring them to mind. They're lyrics are also amazing.
And thanks for reviewing this, as it made me finally look into these guys. Nice job.

No problems Cush... & thanks for the recommendations. I obviously will have no issue with less aggression & dissonance.

Mi Fa Mi is just kind of boring to me, and I've really tried to like it.
But to bring it back on track, I've listened to this disc about 10 times in the last 2 days. And it's been good. Butchers Mouth, Piggy Bank Lies, and A Sin to Hold On To are my favs. I'm gonna give it some more time, but I could see myself bumping this to a 4.

Yeah, the new LostProphets album has been pushed back a few times, but it's Jan-18 now. Don't go knocking them Adam, or I'll go ultra fanboy with my review.
And yeah, 'Home' just didn't hit home for me Adam.
Cush, Butchers Mouth is the new single, but I don't think it's a good choice. It's a great song & all, but I doubt it would appeal to radio & the like.

I actually think its one of the most catchy on the cd, but it gets a little weird at the bridge. A Sin To Hold On To might have been a better choice. Really tho, the whole cd is wicked catchy.
