Bought it off this recommendation. You're right, his voice takes a little getting used to, but I found it overall enjoyable on my first listen.

Good to hear Captain Civic. His voice should get easier to take with each subsequent listen.

i'm betting it's me, you, zipp3r, atavan and strikey.

actually, if I make it, it'll be my second term as contributor. i was one once, briefly, before college spirited me away for six months or so, and i naturally lost that status. i'm hoping to regain it.

by the way how many "contributor" slots are there? is it a rigid number, or is it more flexible?

Damn college; Ruining people's Sputnik careers!

As far as I know, there is no rigid number of contributor slots. But I'm guessing the powers that be have an approximate number in their minds when deciding.

As long as we're making contributor guesses: Adam Knott (strikey), Ross Tomlin (mutatedfreek), Rudy Klapper (klap4music), David Young (AtavanHalen) and Marko Polovina (MassiveAttack). I'll be applying too but I'm too realist too put consider myself.

Yeah, they are strong suggestions Caleb & all would be worthy.

"DAVEY REVIEWING INDIE?! "

Well, it's what I call indie (or indie-pop anyway), but it doesn't seem like everyone else agrees with that classification.

hey guys, do you know if this site can help a lad actually build a career?

i'll explain: i'd love to be a music journalist, and I have my degree in Media Studies now. so do you know if any "talent scouts" ever come to sputnik?

Hey, I'm too mainstream for "regular" indie; indie-pop is my niche (haven't you noticed the trend?). I'll try this out. Surely I can legitimize the indie-popness of this.

Pedro, I highly, highly doubt it.

Now now, don't be like that Caleb. You never know. NME or Rolling Stone may come here looking for someone to review Thrice's next album. Haha!

Seriously Pedro, I doubt it too. But you can always use it on your CV or whatever.

Yeah, give this a go Caleb. But as I've said to many, don't necessarily judge it off of first listen. Let us know what you think when you eventually get around to it.

yeah tbh, then i must say, that Caleb here would be my first pick for contributor as he reviews a lot and does it with quite a style. I hope that the fact that there aren't many "metal" reviewers in the staff and if Balls and Rasputin will get promoted then there would be a need for more guys who review metal.

Strikey, Ross, Marko, Atavan, Rudy, Caleb and Pedro all review more indie/rock/post-hardcore stuff. That leaves me and Zipp3r in the metal category. I hope to make it but I am not too disappointed if I won't. Let the best reviewer win!

rock Pedro rock, I was too lazy to catogorize you all so i just threw some options in. yeah you review more rock, Rudy does a lot of pop, Strikey is more indie, Caleb is good overall, Ross is also more rock orientated (imo), Atavan does pop and post-hardcore and so on.

yep I concentrate unsurprisngly on metal, but I try to review more obscure stuff that hasn't got any reviews yet - reason I wan't to be a contributor since it gives me a better chance of introducing cool bands to people.

Except Rudy is basically exclusively pop AND he's an excellent reviewer, which makes me think he'll get swooped up for his genre (which is undercovered).

Nevermind, you covered that.

TBH, if I do eventually make staff, I can see myself going more towards the poppy stuff. Then again, a lot of the rock/post-hardcore/pop-punk I listen to leans towards the poppy side anyway.

Okay what the fuck

Fader, man.

Fucking FADER.

I cannot get over how insanely fucking good this song is.

For all the fuss about Sweet Dispositon...fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. This is SO GOOD.

OOO OOO OOOOOH OOOH OOHOOH OOOOOOOOOOH OOOOH OOHOOH

In other news, fucking LOL at people thinking I'd become contributor.

'Fader' is indeed catchy DavID... But it's almost too simple for it's own good... Especially in the context of the entire album. It was always going to be a single, put it that way.

I genuinely thought you'd really like this album DavID.
