I should have gone with my instincts. For the past three weeks i've seen this at the music store and have passed it up because I've seen Crysis's critique.

This just... isn't a 3.9.

That would have to go to Clouds and New Dawn for me. Closely followed by Vertebrae and The Watcher.

Yeah, it made me smile when I first heard it - they couldn't have made a better opener.

All songs rule. My favorite is probably Ground or The Watcher.

Enslaved took home another Norwegian Grammy i've read. I want to live in an area where it's popular to listen to Enslaved instead of dealing with medicore tripe from the un-elites of mid Florida. This Message Edited On 01.26.09

Well, it's nice and all but my area has no hardcore/metal music scene. As my take on music borders on over excessive, things need to shift back to early 90's.

I was listening to Horrified and Practice What You Preach while I was still in the womb.

I'd say 8/9 years later. I was a bit shielded from metal for a while after they witnessed my savagness but those walls soon came crashing down to a clusterfuck of emotional proportions. Hail Metal and Hail S Club 7. Hail New Years Day as well because they could overtake my love for Paramore.

right...despite not being a fan of their previous work (AHHHH I hear you say), I picked this up the other day. It better be as good as you're all saying it is!!

I've heard "The Watcher" and that was great so hopefully the rest is just as good!!

It's definitely as great as we all say.

I'm really trying to like these guys, but I can't stand the lead singer's growl. It just sounds too much like he's gargling to me. The music is pretty interesting... I'm sure to someone out there this is blasphemy, but if you took the main vocalist out of this album I'd probably give it a pretty decent score.

Grutle is probaly my second favorite vocalist behind Mikael Stanne. His gowls on here are incredible. And the clean vocal, another complaint shared by few but still present are in my opinion sung exceptionally well by the keyboardist.

I'll be giving it another listen over the weekend I'm sure - Sometimes new vocalists just take time with me. I do like the clean vocals though (which are often the hardest thing to like in many metal bands.)
