No, that was a hyperbole. Honestly, I understand if you like the album, but there is no way in hell it is the 5 that everyone has given it. If this album wasn't so highly rated, I probably wouldn't have commented it.



Also, alesana's first full length was an enjoyable listen. They went downhill a lot on their next album though. The thing is, I didn't rate that a 5 when it cleary was not.

Not that it's actually particularly relevant, but 4.0-4.5 ratings for Before Their Eyes and Escape the Fate is not much better.

This band is just...mediocre. The vocals are annoying and repetitive, and the drums have the most awkward sound imaginable.

I thought this was somewhere around a 2 the first couple times I heard it. Seemed like a bunch of whiney screaming and random guitar lines. The next couple times the chaotic nature of the songs seemed to fit perfectly. The song structures became a standout and I listened to the brilliant lyrics more. After about 7 or 8 listens I realized how insanely perfect the album is. Awesome lyrics, original song structure, brilliant pacing, great guitar riffs, a completely unique feel to the entire album. Now I give it a 5, and it definitely deserves it.

Fair enough. There's a certain amount of slant in a rating. I really loved both those albums, they were defintley above average, and I felt they were worth that rating.



Yea, I don't have the patinece to listen to this 7 times. I feel that a classic should defintely wow you immediatly. But then again, I really could not define what a classic album should be.



So, fair enough. I'll end my rant. I was expecting more "omg! this band is so awesome!" but (un)fortunately a few objective people ended up responding.

Maybe that's the problem. I think it's usually the exact opposite. Albums that make me go wow immediately, I tire of eventually. Albums that take a while to get into take longer for a reason - they are different than what you're used to, more complex, music & lyrics are deep so it takes time to disect. The wow factor is usually hidden within the dynamics and sometimes it takes a while to find it.

It's not a good review, but like the thing is, I've seen plenty of shit reviews on here, but they were positive reviews for popular albums, and while they may have received comments giving constructive criticism, they received nothing close to the worldwide scorn and shittalking this one got.
