“Worst production almost best album”
You must have forgotten about Waiting if you’re talking about worst production lol

Totally confused tbh. The production on this is excellent. Listen to the guitars in the chorus of Signals Over The Air (specifically 'I want to split it from your lips / And hide like whispers in the rain') and say that that isn't a fantastic guitar recording. The snare sound is also great and has the perfect punch.

Waiting's production is kinda perfect for what it is (a beautiful unpolished mess)
This one's production is very of its time but not their worst (Common Existence, love it as I do, is brickwalled to oblivion)

I dunno if it's just the nostalgia of this being my first Thursday record, but I might actually like this more than Full Collapse. Gonna re-jam the full discography soon and solidify my rankings. Right now, it stands like this:
1) Full Collapse
2) War All The Time
3) Common Existence
4) A City by the Light Divided
5) Waiting
Still haven't heard No Devolucion, but everyone says I'm missing out.

I liked Waiting enough to want to re-jam several songs from it from time to time but yeah, it's hard to argue that it isn't their weakest.
Mad stoked to hear No Devolucion. Heard it's pretty post-punk in execution.

Pretty post-punk for sure, but also a v logical successor to Common Existence (which i kinda love)

"Pretty post-punk for sure, but also a v logical successor to Common Existence (which i kinda love)"
Wow! That statement alone intrigues me even more! I had heard it's very different from all their other records, so I'm very curious now about how one might consider it a logical successor to Common Existence. Maybe I'll jam it once before running through the discog.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a fair leap from that album in a lot of ways! But I think it carries on and refines a lot of what that one was going for, and chances are you'll hear a lot more Joy Division-isms in CE once you've heard ND. I might rejam both sometime soon, haven't had a good Thursday fix in a while

ND is pretty easily my favorite by these guys

I didn't even know it was in question if this was better than Full Collapse. This is so much better than Full Collapse. It's no contest. Full Collapse is a nostalgia listen for me. Some songs on that album are embarrassing to listen to looking back. This album showed so much growth for the band. In their compositions, and musicianship.

Definitely digging this more than Full Collapse. More versatile, stronger songwriting — just more interesting and engaging. T/t is awesome.

Man this is really growing on me. Might be a 4.5. I liked Full Collapse and rated it a 3.5, but couldn’t fully get into it. Liked it but didn’t love it. This one I love.

Mood, takes me back to hearing them both for the first time. FC is great, but this has some ludicrous highs and only a couple of shrapnel tracks

Fuck this album is amazing. So incredibly consistent. Bumping up to 4.5. Can’t wait to check out the rest of their work now. After hearing FC, i likes it, but felt it was a bit one dimensional/repetitive. But this is fantastic.

gonna be interested to see what you think of Common Existence, Lark - always thought of that one as a greyscale counterpart to this

Yeah those are the two most punky and have relatively dry production, also seem the most overtly political?

I’ll definitely chime in on each album’s thread as I go through them. Looking forward to No Devolucion the most as it seems to be one of their best and the descriptions of it I’ve read make it sound like something I’ll love.
