the vocal work (primarily the fast "black metal" type structure) really made me think "what the fuck is he doing...is this a joke?"

but the guitar work ceases to disappoint me

I don't know what you're talking about man, his vocals have improved by leaps and bounds, especially the highs.

the album is decent at best. too inconsistent from track to track. the title track is bad. title tracks should never be bad.

the vox aren't good at all

in the begining of track 2 (whatever its called...i ripped the cd) hes screamin' is all fast and whatnot...its really annoying

you don't expain your points very well i mean how can fast and whatnot screaming be annoying? and err this is no way a 5. everything about it is dull. the only thing it has on it's plus side is it can be intense but in like a oh i've heard this so many times before kinda way. You know when you see a slasher movie and it's pretty intense but almost not really because you already know what's going to happen.

I think it's five worthy. It's all about taste. I mean, you gave the Decemberists a 4. I would've given them a 2, but that's your opinion, and I respect it.

The way I see it, Whitechapel are pretty hectic. JFAC is stuff metal heads girlfriends listen to. All of my friends gf's love JFAC and have the t-shirts and everything. Pure scenesters. And you're judging off of 2 songs? If I judged JFAC by the boring ass played out slow riff from Entombment, than they would be listed as lower than GF music. Weird how someone can be unimpressed with something like this but impressed with scenester deathcore.

I know right. New JFAC is a bit more techy, but it doesn't have any catchiness. Still not one of my fav listens, no matter how much they stepped it up.

This is Exile is a good album. It's no classic, by far, but it's good nonetheless.



Sure some songs on it aren't as good, or just plain standard, but I listen to some of these songs quite regularly.



Lately I've been listening to some more deathcore stuff, and not all of it is as bad as everyone around me wanted me to believe.



Some Suicide Silence is good, it does what it says on the box: heavy breakdown stampeding band with a good live performance.

Same basically goes for whitechapel, but better vocals and different song arrangements. I like it, but it's not fantastic.

This is much better than I thought it would be, and I'm really getting into it a lot right now. This is Exile is my favorite song after a few listens. The breakdown stuck with me on first listen.

This album is not that bad at all. Some songs here are excellent like Death Becomes Him, Daemon, Possession. I agree that three guitarists aren't necessary and the bass is non-existent because of it, the album is overproduced, and it could have much been better. I wonder, when their new album is made, how it will turn out to be.
