That South Park is the sole reason too many kids go "I hate Bono so much" or say "Bono is a piece of shit" - but than cannot justify their reasoning. It aggravates me so much - if you don't like something that's cool but if that's your reason for hating Bono you're an idiot. That being said, being the U2 fan I am, that was a funny episode but was based on absolutely zero premise. The guy does so much good for mankind and gets shit on - do people really think he uses his good deeds for anymore publicity that he wouldn't already have for being in U2 alone?

Also to try and justify this post, haha - this is a great album.

As I said - I respect that people don't like some music (like U2) - but if you're gonna base hatred for Bono on the fact that a South Park episode told you to hate him than you're an idiot. And I said "too many kids" not "too many kids on Sputnik". In my experience (friends or kids talking about music) that is the reason someone will give me about why they dislike the band.

o & pretty much everything U2 have ever done is overrated. not always terrible, but almost always overrated. i read an article somewhere online about how No Line was touted as the return of the world's biggest band and then sold fuck all copies and it made me laugh so hard.

Alright guys - really not looking for a fight here, especially on someone's Coldplay review, but Strikey to be fair you are giving me zero reason besides his "not so brilliant songwriting abilities" as to why you dislike U2 and not JUST Bono. I'm going to stop this here if this is just going to turn into another lame Sputnik fight that leads to someone calling someone else a troll... if however you guys just want to talk, that's cool.

Strikey - I respect that. I was writing my last post while yours about U2 was already posted. My bad and I see what you're saying. It's definitely inevitable to avoid stupid articles/reviews like that but I mean I guess I just really don't let that stuff take away from the music for me. There are way too many bands that are possibly too overhyped or have annoying fan bases that I refuse to let ruin the music itself for me.

For some reason, Coldplay have always managed to avoid irritating me, even though I realise a lot of people find Chris Martin the most annoying person in music. S'all subjective, a bunch of biases and personal preferences thrown together that result in some semblance of a considered opinion. But Bono isn't the reason I dislike U2's music; I just find it too overblown, too deliberated, too faux-epic to feel real or human.



This, on the other hand, feels stunningly personal and universal at the same time.

I hear you man - and that's all I was getting at (also in my conversation with Celestial as well) that you can give me a real reason for why you don't like U2's music. And not to detract from this as this is a superb album!
