I agree that Feathergun is unmistakably their own sound, but it's worth noting that while Eidolon may not be "entirely" original(if such a thing even exists), it's very different to Terras. With each album they developed their sound, which is a big part of why I'm so excited for the new album; because they're not a static band and I don't know what to expect.

Was just about to post that. Everything's sounding awesome indeed. The instrumental parts were great and it sounds like Drew goes pretty crazy with the vocals, going off the beginning.

Though I don't think they are Tool wanabe's, it just worked out this way. They've said specifically in many interviews who their influences are and Tool isn't one of them.
And as for the 5, Andrew gives the performance of a lifetime on this record, the lyrics really cut to my core most of the time and idk it just does it for me. It's passionate, emotional, and Pandora is fucking incredible.

They've said their influences include Dredg, The Beatles, Bowie, Deftones and Floyd I believe too???
Though I still thoroughly enjoy every minute of Sound Awake, Karnivool sounds like Tool a lot more than this album imo. But I'm still not gonna hate them or stop listening cause of it. Good music is good music to me.

I think the Tool similarity is one a lot of people rush to attribute to Rishloo when they recognise the music as moody/atmospheric prog rock/metal, and it's something that takes some familiarity with the band's work to get over. When I first started listening to them "Sounds like Tool" was one of my first thoughts as well, but after getting into them more I appreciated them for what they were and don't really associate them with Tool at all at this point.

yea maybe its just theres so many other bands i'd rather spend my time gettin into i guess i'll never rly know~

Whatevs KILL to each his own. I still recommend you try them again at some point though it's worth it.
They actually do develop their own sound on Feathergun.

One of the rules of the Sputnik is that all rock and metal music sounds like Tool.

At 2:14 in the song Elempe, it sounds like Hooker With A Penis mixed with AEnima by Tool. But that's the only similarity I can find. Da fuk you people tlkn bout?

I don't get too wrapped up on shit like that. Yea they sound like tool at some parts, but does that make them an unlistenable band or a bad band? Fuck no.

If you play this album backwards at 200% speed, its actually the studio version of Lateralus
