Well Patton is the man of 'a thousand voices' so they could do just about anything with him. Would have been really interesting.

Greg is just a vocalist for the band, as far as I know he does not write. Besides, Ben Weinmen has always been the lead writer for this band so it's up to him and what kind of vocalist he has to work with and imo with Patton there were alot more possibilities because of what a versatile vocalist he is. Not saying Greg can't sing, but has a limited tone and range thus limiting what they are capable of doing musically. Since him they've done alot more ballady, poppy, and emotional type parts which seem to fit his style.

Comparing almost anyone to Patton is unfair, Patton has a completely out there range that only a
handful of people can match.
Greg's range is a lot wider than most -core vocalists(that i know of), that's what matters
