"Why some people still hold a grudge against this album I'll never know."
do they? i don't see it so much anymore, in this post-zeitgeist world especially

Yeah, the combination of time and SP albums far inferior to this being released has helped this album's reputation.

i still say oceania trumps this

I used to think that till last week lol

Haven't heard Oceania yet but it'll be tough to beat Adore, especially considering it's 'new millennium' SP.

no sp2 album trumps anything pre-zwan
|

Makes sense, tough to beat Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie, and Adore anyway.

I like Gish more than Adore by a tiny bit.
Why does everyone always forget about Gish?
|
| |
I only remember a few songs from Gish (Rhinoceros is obviously amazing, and there's a song called Crush (?) which is also great), not much of it though.

gish is fun but adore's on a whole other level
|

That's about the impression I get from it, even though I don't remember Gish in full.

it's totally worth a listen if you're a pumpkins fan
easily the rawest thing they ever made outside of i guess Mellon Collie, & songs like "bury me" are a fuckin blast; some of the best showcases for the pure interplay between jim & bill ever put to record, i'd say

Hmm interesting, lots of great songs would fit in that category. Some of my favs would be:
Geek U.S.A.
Jellybelly
Here Is No Why
Hummer

gish has a different guitar sound than the 2 records after it, less intensely layered & thick so there's more of an "even keel" mixing wise between the strings & drums
brings out the aforementioned interplay a bit more, in most cases
i wouldn't trade the SD or MCIS guitar sound for anything tho, so not at all knocking that

Might lower my rating for Oceania, listened to it today and wasn't as impressed as before.
