I need to get into more Britpop. I'm too Canadian to understand it completely. (I live in the capital of the country.)

Maybe not completely, but I'm a kiwi and I was crazy about Oasis back in the day. Not something I listen to much anymore though

I think music is something that's felt rather than understood. If you don't share the cultural background of a band or even speak their language, I feel you can still relate to their music

Oasis definitely resonated Down Under.

I got into them when I lived in Wales. Most of my friends in NZ only knew Wonderwall, and even then just as a meme. Sad

Always fascinating what Western culture finds popularity in Asia (I'm sure the reverse is also true)

When I saw the length of the songs I thought wikipedia was lying to me that the album was britpop and guessed that they became a prog rock band

I always enjoy how the britpop celebrated the British culture, especially Blur's lyrics. I read an explanation in youtube about the chorus of London loves "the mistery of the speeding car" because it's strange to see a car speeding down on the streets of England.

tbh listening to this, i never actually have the thought that "these songs are too long". that's not to say that every moment of every overblown number is endlessly exhilarating, but the song lengths actually feel pretty natural imo

@dimsim I think it's the combination of these songs being sonically bloated as well as 7+ minutes that bugs people. More than fair

Has there ever been such an over-hyped and ultimately disappointing album than Be Here Now?

If Magic Pie ended at 4:30 it would have been sooooo much better

Album needed to be trimmed.
Change Magic Pie for Flashbax
All Around the World for Stay Young
Stick in Going Nowhere

5.

Album cover is the most phoned in 'this is what we're supposed to do right?' thing of all time.

There we were, now here we are let’s well and truly go in all guns blazing while not giving a fuck.

Legends.

Watched Knebworth on YouTube last night. Liam absolutely belts out Slide Away it’s fucking spectacular.

Yep odd considering the whole thing was filmed and it’s part of British musical history. I would buy it solely for Slide Away and It’s Getting Better Man.

Funnily enough those I know who actually went to it said it was shit.
