Further into the album I became increasingly aware of how much black metal got stripped off this album in favor of straight up prog jamming. I don't usually mind that but thats not really what I'm looking for with this band. I think Enslaved is best when they got a healthy mixture of bm and prog going. Monumension was better about that.

if i remember correctly the most recent ones were leaning more heavily into nordish and viking atmospheres again, which this one completely lost.
