By Others Considered is too good. I have played it at least 3 times a day since i got the album. I made my girlfriend (who likes indie...yuck) listen to it twice and though she said she hated it, i know in her heart she despised it. I love this album!

Every time i try to listen to another album, i start thinking i'm wasting valuable shrouded divine listening time, i stop halfway through, and turn this on. It is way too good to be a first album.

Haha. Yeah, I can't say I haven't done the same thing a couple times to. It is great for their first full length, but they did have 5 demos worth of "practice" to iron out the kinks that a lot of first albums can have. I can't help but think that that fact has a lot to do with how well this album came out.

I understand but i'd rather bands do that then release crappy first albums. My expectations for their follow-up is already too high so i'm worried but for now, i'll just love this.

It would make for a lot more, better, first outings, but a lot bands that are just getting started are so eager to get that first CD out that they don't think about making demos. That's kind of a presumptuous statement, I know, but I think there is some validity to it. But yeah, I have high hopes for their follow-up as well.

metalikane-i know what you mean...i hate getting into a band then going backwards into their discography and finding unlistenable garbage. I understand the excitement of the band so it's acceptable, it's just disappointing...

kattun-i disagree, they keep me interested throughout even at slower parts but i wouldn't say they need to speed up. The slow makes the speed all the more hard-hitting such as in by others considered where there's the soft, slow ultra-heavy section followed by the slow clean section then when the speed comes it slaps you in the face. That's more a matter of opinion but that's just my point of view on the tempo.

^^^Love your analysis of the flow of By Others, I feel the same way about most of the tracks on the album.

My one thing is that they seem to have pretty much the same song structure on all of these tracks, but they've got their sound down pat, so I have a feeling whatever they do next (much like Be'Lakor) will rain destruction upon the world of melo-death.

Oh my fucking god, im ashamed i gave this a 4..after each listen it gets better, i no longer think the minority of clean vocals matters..mind blowing, can anyone tell anything other than a certain Opeth that can even come close to metal album of the year...fuck....

Whoever is giving this album a 1,1.5,2,2.5 and 3 so that the album drops spots is not funny or cool in any way.
