I liked the remake. Makes a bad album much more listenable in some spots

This is what happens when a bands ego becomes planet sized. I don't know what this is supposed to be, but I do know that it is impossible to listen to. No disrespect or anything, but I just feel like they should have just kept this to themselves.

The mere fact that you said Pantera was still around and doing well destroys any credibility you have of reviewing this album. The main problem with this album, hands down, is the inexcusably shitty production. I can understand they wanted to sound raw and go back to basics. I just watched the documentary "Some Kind of Monster", which details pretty much everything that went on in and out of the studio during the production of this album. While there was a lot of drama and mixed emotion going on, I simply cannot understand how any of them, Bob Rock, or even Robert Trujillo thought this sound would slide, and ironically, I could forgive every other problem with this album if the production wasn't laughable. This is Metallica we're talking about. It's not like they can't afford anything less than stellar studio work.

I had never realized how much the production, not only the drum tone, of this album turned me away from it for so long after initially hearing it until I checked the remake on youtube. Though the lyrics and a lot of the songwriting is still pretty shaky at some parts, it's mostly fun to just skip around the video and enjoy some of the great riffs.

^^ Thank you someone for finally agreeing with me. Regardless of what anyone thinks, I like the drum work on this record. Very fun to play along to!

I remember someone came up with 7 deadly sins for this album and I agree with most of them, especially the drum tone and up to 8+ minute long tracks with barely any structural variations to justify such length.

I don't get how someone who has listened to like over 1000 albums could give this a 1. this is simply not a 1 even on the worst of days.

Yah purify is fucking trash lol but the first three tracks and The Unnamed Feeling pretty much balance out this being a 1.
