Yeah it’s a solid 4 easily.

The first 3 all have great moments, but they're inconsistent. Icon is where they really started to get good, and this is their peak. I think their material from Symbol of Life onward is mostly better than the first 3 tbh

I feel that both Icon and this are well-executed for what they are but the band just stopped taking chances.

Disagreed hard. They took a huge chance when they transformed their sound completely on Icon. They then refined that sound here, resulting in the best album of their career.

Then of course they took a less successful chance with the next three albums, but at least they got back on track from Symbol of Life onward.

They took a chance by by sounding like post-Black Album Metallica and Type O in contrast to them being a band that was involved in the infancy of death/doom? Not sure about that one.

Casavir and Hawks agreed on something. How did this happen

It's because I'm highlighting how odd it is to say Paradise Lost was taking a chance with their direction after Shades since they were essentially pioneers to begin with as you weren't really doing death/doom unless you were Autopsy (and even then that's debatable) or Dream Death.

Haven't seen such varied ratings in this thread in a long while.

Here's another 4.5 to liven up the atmosphere.

On second look, it looks like I gave their self titled a 3.5 so that must mean I thought it was the best of the bunch. Rest was either 2, 2.5, or 3.

Icon and Symbol Of Life are the required Paradise Lost albums. It covers their doom and electronic eras.

Or better yet just skip the electronic era altogether.
