It was a really nice first listen, and my first album of this band. Some really clever song structures. I don't mind the lyrics, I like the sometimes melancholic atmosphere.

This is one of those albums where the remastered version really brings it to another level. Probably one of the best remaster jobs I've heard.

I don't think I've heard the remaster of this. I also don't think I listen to this band when it's warm out.. Bring on the winter

Complicity is still one of the best Tool songs I've heard.

--I don't think I've heard the remaster of this.--
It's not just a remaster. There's additional vocal, keyboard, and guitar melodies, too. It kind of brings it more up to Night is the New Day levels as far as sound and the actual music goes.

--"This year, time is approaching 'Viva Emptiness' with a 10th anniversary, so is there really something to celebrate? Oh yes, indeed! Our long lost mission objective will finally be completed! The album may now take that climb, in terms of audio quality, to be right up there proudly positioned beside its younger 'album brethren' — 'The Great Cold Distance', 'Night Is The New Day' and finally 'Dead End Kings'. We will give 'Viva Emptiness' the sound and production the songs always deserved by having our long time studio rat and collaborator David Castillo work his magic at his Ghost Ward studio. Secondly, another longtime collaborator of ours, namely Travis Smith, will give the artwork an enhanced continuation of the original theme that will keep the visual aesthetes at bay!-- Katatonia in 2013
Fully revamped, remixed, remastered, and featuring a bonus track, this special edition contains:
- All keyboard sounds updated, plus brand new keyboard arrangements on many songs.
- Inside The City of Glass with additional vocals (originally intended for inclusion on the album in 2003).
- The b-side Wait Outside.
- Completely new artwork by Travis Smith (based on the original album art themes).

I'm pretty triggered they chose to sandwich the b-side in between Omertà and the closer, that was the perfect 1-2 punch to end the album... hope that choice pays off.
