I've always been bummed by the Handcuffs disdain. I've never fully understood why it's seen as such a weak song but I know I'm in the minority of people that love it.



I agree with Futures re: venin. You're talking about stuff from 10-15 years ago. We've all grown up and I think it's time to let that shit go. Certain bands have super annoying fans but who cares? I'm a fan of plenty of bands with fanbases I can't stand but I'm also a grown-ass adult so I don't let that stuff affect if I think the music is good or not.

Fine, but like I said, Seether did not "rip off" Brand New's "Daisy" for "Nobody Praying for Me", and it's also the fact that the jesse stuff had me feeling like I committed an unpardonable sin by streaming science fiction right before finding it out

i specifically remembered shaun morgan did a reddit ama and some shitbird brand new fans took it over to ask him why he "ripped brand new off" when the two songs sound nothing alike. then when he answered with a sarcastic "because we can't do anything original" they reposted it over to the brand new sub to seemingly incite more fans to get mad at shaun for some reason

Brand New kinda rules

La Dispute can be good but I don't really like how comically overblown the melodrama of their vocals -can- be. It really teeters a fine line between emotional gut punches ala King Park to goofy high schol poetry club ala Such Small Hands even instrumentally they always kinda fuck

Yeah that's divisive I feel that but tbh I love all of it. Overwrought as it may be its earnest and I almost always am drawn to stuff that earnest. I even treat that how could this happen to me song as a completely serious song about going through stuff and it hits for me. But on the flipside if I don't want to let myself get invested then I usually don't lol

^ I think they grew and harnessed the melodrama much more effectively on Wildlife than on Somewhere at the Bottom. Somewhere's lyrics are endearing though so I give it a pass cus the instruments more than make up for it.

La Dispute top 10 most annoying bands of all time. Used to love them in my late teens but can't take the melodrama as I've gotten older. Like Dedes said, it almost borders on parody. I'll give them props for throwing a great live show tho.
