Do you hate Deftones too because they're "elitistly" propped up as better than their peers?

i do understand why it has hype. i'm just explaining why i'm not willing to let this consume me. most of the tones fans i know won't just immediately insult someone if they like, let's say linkin park, just as much if not more. that is an interesting point tho, because i'm subconsciously ashamed of being a Tool fan due to how pretentious the fanbase is

most brand new fans do? i find that extremely hard to believe.

this album is seen as the emo album it's "okay" to like by the "patricians" and tastemakers, and anything less acclaimed, especially back in the mid-2010s, would get you called slurs and told to commit. i even used to see people try to insult others if they liked american football

moral of the story: internet music discourse was really brutal in the mid 2010s and i'm sorta still feeling the lasting effects of it, especially since i once had a friend who used to relentlessly haze me for my preference and then they became a hardcore brand new fan. they didn't even waver when it all came down.

showbiz thru black holes is a solid run. i liked the resistance well enough too, rest is take it or leave it but I liked enough to keep some of that too except for simulation theory

Yeah, hold up. Not letting this Muse Absolution dragging go unchecked. EDIT: Nvm, I see Emim has been redeemed.
I think TBS's best songs can compete with a lot of Brand New's output (A Decade Under the Influence, One-Eighty by Summer, Great Romances) and I do love their first two albums but I think BN's work is at least a tier or two above what TBS put out. I don't think there's anything wrong with liking TBS more though. I have plenty of friends that couldn't get into Brand New.
