So many bands have been “fucking done” only to come back I’ve lost count. Money is a hell of an incentive.

not now but when they need money it won't matter, time and $ heal all wounds.

I'd agree if it weren't for the allegations. I really don't think they want to return just to relive 2017 and be a pariah incapable of reaching the critical accolades they once did -- regardless of the quality of their musical output.
They'd have to be pretty hard up for money, and while I'm sure they're not millionaires, they've been able to get by post-BN.
If I'm wrong and they do come back, I think it will be very unconventional. Maybe b-side song dumps, maybe some occasional new merch (the latter they've already been doing). I doubt they'll ever go back to selling out massive shows as headliners and doing traditional album rollouts. I'll listen to anything they put out because they're one of the most influential bands from my adolescence, but I'm expecting absolutely nothing. They were planning to break up before the allegations ever surfaced. I've come to peace with the idea that they're long over. Go listen to Foxing's self-titled. Batter up.

Playing a solo set to raise money for the LA fires. It's at Interscope exec/former Beats president Luke Wood's house, so it looks like the industry is already behind a full return, if it ever happens.

I still think they aint getting back together in any significant way.
But I gotta admit I feel like that chance is getting less slim

in a more ideal world this would be treated like Capsize's attempt at a comeback, aka completely shut down before it has a chance to take off, or lacey wouldn't be involved (can't punish the other members if they did nothing wrong)
taking back sunday was always better tbh, casually liked deja but never really made an attempt to get into brand new, the jesse stuff pulled me away from ever letting them become a cornerstone, this is probably their best though i guess

i do get the acclaim to some degree but i also don't think this is one i have any interest in trying to get super invested in
some context may be necessary tho. before the lacey stuff came out i always just saw them as the band that came out of one of the early fallouts of TBS before tell all your friends. casually checked deja and thought it was good, then checked daisy after a bunch of people accused seether of ripping the title track off on "nobody praying for me" and i did not understand the similarity at all? and most of that album bored me.
science fiction i heard out of curiosity and then right after the lacey thing came out and i couldn't help but feel extreme guilt even though i only listened once on streaming. this one, i went out of my way to avoid streaming it on spotify so jesse wouldn't earn money, i gave it a go, and i again casually enjoyed it, but it didn't do as much for me as something like louder now did

it may also just be this band's aura of being "the emo band it was OKAY to like" as opposed to every other mall emo band where if you repped their shirt or talked about them online you would get called a slur years ago

“ i went out of my way to avoid streaming it on spotify so jesse wouldn't earn money”
do what ya want, but 1 or a thousand streams of their records is so negligible that you honestly shouldn’t even consider it.
To me Brand New, Daughters etc… they’re bands whose music I’ll still listen to but wouldn’t buy merch off of.

If you don’t want Jesse to make money, streaming on Spotify is probably the best way to go tbh.

@spec: idk seems p simple to me, i'd take tbs' worst over brand new's worst (i thought your favorite weapon kinda sucked beyond having an okayish instrumental base... i'd take even 152 over it) and they have 3 full albums i enjoyed more than i enjoyed this (and to your second comment, the floorboard gives them even less)
@wildcard: yah it is pretty negligible tbf, i think due to the situation i'm still sticking to my initial opinion of this band no matter how much shit i get for it. kinda like how i never really liked dance gavin dance (bar the kurt era) all that much, and by the time the tilian news came out, i felt almost vindicated
