>I missed the Meshuggah, Cannibal Corpse, and Carcass show last year bc I was sick :[

This is arguably the best metal tour of the past five years. Three straight bands that are mid-level (at least) tour headliners, each could arguably headline festivals.

Carcass slayed. Cannibal Corpse fucking demolished and I barely even dig pure DM. And Meshuggah live is just wild, not the biggest fan of them either. Agree about the light guy and also set designer or whoever is responsible for that shit because jfc it must have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and it was worth every penny.

Having been to a lot of electronic and dance shows with over the top visuals/lights, I can easily say Meshuggah had some of the best lighting I ever saw across any genre. Shit was so sick

Egarran - that was me trying to listen to the new Car Bomb last night lol. The tempo changes had me fucked up.

I saw carbomb open for meshuggah and they were one of the worst things I've ever had the displeasure of being forced to listen to. Awful awful stuff.

the drummer's arms play like a basic 4/4 rhythm so that's what you headbang to, not the kicks or the guitars which are mostly synced to each other on an odd rhythm. once you get that down it's easy.

Just focus on the snare my friend. Snare hit, head goes down. Most of shug is in 4/4

It's actually not the snare hits, those are all kinds of crazy time signatures. Nine times out of ten the crash cymbal hits are whats grounding their song in 4/4 time

I guess that's not incorrect. It's the cymbals relation to the snare hits or some shit idk

Headbanging off rhythm is a horrible feeling.

Esp when you notice too late that you're going to miss the beat so you pause the banging but then you get back in it too late, it's pretty much like coitus interruptus.
