I'm still shocked that it happened to THE most influential band in the scene. Out of all people, you'd think they would be infallible

If there's any justice in heaven, God won't let me in.

I'm on my way to Hell. I've tried. God knows that I've tried.

For the good of all man, pull me down underwater and don't let me up again.

the fans put Jesse on a pedestal way more than he did

because there are artistic tools used in lyrics such as satire, irony, and hyperbole, among other things, that arent to be taken at face value. im pretty sure everyone would be surprised if it came out that Jello Biafra killed children, regardless of the fact that he blatantly said so in his lyrics.

I'm not citing Deja lyrics, because I don't think there's merit, but the tones of regret and self-hatred in the later albums are prevalent

yeah i'm sure the victim(s) felt a sense of closure after jesse lacey gained thousands of fans and dollars for being vaguely self depricative in his lyrics for ten years after the incident(s)

Yeah let’s attribute lyrics that Vinnie wrote to Jesse and use them as an example of Jesse leaving a breadcrumb trail toward his predatory habits

I've been dealing with this whole situation by listening to more Brand New. It's helping.
