Isolation Years is so irrelevant I genuinely forget it even exists sometimes, The Grand Conjuration is essentially the closer. I guess it is an extension/bonus track of sorts, at least that’s how it plays out in my own mind. Weird.

@Trifolium Celebration Day!! Congrats!
Isolation Years is such a good closer, what are you talking about?????

I see it as an extension of TGC, so it’s passable if I view it in this way. As an individual track it is irrelevant. Argh, going to need to revisit this soon, let’s see if it can sustain the rating. I’ve been re-checking a few 5s of late.

Well, I don't know why this song has struck such a sensitive chord in me. Both the music and the narrative in the lyrics are so fragile. I wrote a story about four years ago about a forbidden lesbian love in the turn of the 20th century, and the main protagonist's love was named Rosemary. As you can guess, she died alone.

Isolation years is like the end credits of a MCU movie.

Ending credits? I like that.

Ending credits should still fit the movie. Also not doing this album any favors comparing it to children’s movies

Listened to Opeth since I was 14. Still enjoy the MCU movies. Don't see the point there lol. I dunno, this album is so engraved in me that I can't imagine it without Isolation Years on it.

Marvel Cinematic Universe. Their ending credits always have a little teaser of about 1 minute extra footage in them about what might come in a later movie, so people just stick around for it because even though it's finished, it isn't quite. I feel the same about Isolation Years, hence the comparison.

Mythodea knows, Isolation Years is just as perfect as the rest. Gorgeous track, indeed fragile and so sad! Mike's vox!

Hmm, good question. One which I cannot for the life of me remember the answer to. I was looking to get ‘back into’ exploring music, a sort of NY resolution I think. Then I must’ve come across this site somehow. For years I was stuck listening to the same stuff.
This was not my original username or av. Thinking about refreshing it again tbh.
Edit: my join date was Feb ‘17 so it must’ve only taken me 6-8 weeks from the start of that commitment.

SunlightCityDrive with a Fall of Math av. I got into Opeth through lurking here, weirdly had zero exposure to anything extreme metal related beforehand.
I know you’ll appreciate the 65dos love, but do you get the username ref? It didn’t really fit my changing tastes, anything with ‘sun’ in it wouldn’t, lol. I checked Symbolic/BWP etc. before I’d even signed up (lurking) and the rest is history.
