Four solid albums is better than four solid albums and one poop album.

"The unfortunate reality of Tool is that they are unmotivated. Whether it is because they are out of ideas or they took the not so warm reception of 10,000 Days to heart, idk. People can talk up the "legal issues" all they want, you don't stall this much if you actually want to do something. Same with Valve."

I think the unmotivation is because they have other things going on in their lives. Maybe they're just not enamoured of making Tool music anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if the next album (if it ever comes out) is their last. They've all got side projects, many of which aren't even musical, so maybe they're tired of being professional musicians.

I'd still like to think they have a few albums left in them, I think getting this next one out will speed the process up and the one after should only take 3 or so years.

Their popularity has only grown, in all age groups btw, in the past 10 years despite this really being their breakthrough. It's pretty incredible how well they're resisted iTunes store, streaming servives, official social media accounts, etc. and have their notoriety still exist and grow throughout the decade since 10X Days with zero new material. There's really no reason to stop, especially after only four albums, unless they really don't have it in them anymore.

I agree, but we're not them(obviously). Sometimes their talent, fame and influence isn't enough to keep them going if their heart isn't in it anymore. With other shit going on and all. So Id really understand if they want to stop. I'm okay with that. Though a new one would still be sweet nonetheless.

Tool owes us nothing tbh, if they put out a new one sweet, if they don't well that's ok too

Maynard also at this point cares a shitton more about his wine than Tool.

It's probs really pretentious. Like his lyrics. JK lol. But the effort of making something like a Tool record is obviously taxing. It takes me at least a month to put together a song, and obviously I don't write Tool-level music or lyrics, but still. Prog is difficult work.
