Well, Scream really silenced all the people claiming this record would be too mainstream and poppy after Flesh Without Blood came out.

Not sure if I want more than one or two tracks like scream though.

i couldn't take a full album of flesh without blood esque tracks, as good as it was. i'm glad she's still making weird music

Yup, if "Life in the Vivid Dream" is a teaser, I think I'll dig the whole song. The new album may actually be higher on my rotation list than this one.

I've already found myself listening to Flesh Without Blood before I go to bed/late in the evening quite a few times.

visions was pretty varied too, kinda easy to forget since her overall style is so distinct

i think we have nothing to worry about

I still think Visions had a bit of a coherence issue, there's quite a few forgettable moments. So far I like Flesh Without Blood and Realiti better than most of what she's done before.

I actually wouldn't mind some tracks where she screams like she does on Scream. I just really don't care for the "rapping". As a sidenote, I also like her style choices when it comes to visual presentation in videos and the like despite being a bit "flashy".

I honestly wouldn't mind her doing mostly pop songs and I think she'd kill it. Oblivion and Flesh Without Blood are two of the best pop songs of the past few years and Realiti is up there too.

Do dig stuff like Skin and Eight though

skin is lovely, and so is colour of moonlight. i'd love to see her go in a more ambient direction with some of her songs like those two

^ Absolutely no interest in that. Most things with strong ambient (or for that matter drone and noise) influences make me take a nap.

Her melody writing is clearly one of her strongest talents and she should use it

^ Yup. Probably one of the reasons I'm digging the new direction so far. I don't care how "original" or "obscure" or "alternative" or whatever it is. Strong songwriting > everything else

Yep, definitely agree with you two on this.

'Strong songwriting > anything else'

It's important but if you dislike the musical style of a band the songwriting won't swing you

yeah but then why do you bother listening to them at all

THIS IS BOUND TO BE A POP CLASSIC FOR PEOPLE WHO DON’T PARTICULARLY CARE FOR POP MUSIC

popmatters nailed it
