i know you're joking but just as a sidepoint, you can still make a wall-of-sound production style with dynamic range. you only have to listen to his album 'ocean machine' to prove that. even his most recent album proves it.

That's exactly what my masters look like lol. I know it doesn't have the dynamics people care so much for, but I can't be bothered right now. Might look into it with my next record.

I'm relatively new to CoL tbh, I am in Somewhere... spinning mood these days and I have to say it's fucking great. They are masters in building tension and make you float at the same time [2]

Agreed, definitively a grower for me, too.

This LP is such a beautiful music art work. I had to 4.5 this on my first listening session.

"Lights on the Hill" track,

strange haunting melancholia transforming into a 2 vibrant crescendo & a nice descent near the end. Perfect.

I might 5 this. eventually.

Dunno if it'll be much interest, but Magnus Lindberg (guitars/vocals for CoL) is doing production on the new LP by a post-punk/noise rock trio called Heads. out this Friday. Seems like he's also done production on their other stuff.

Now the dust has settled I will say that I love how the end of Silent Man reminds me of Mascara's ending, from Deftones XD

“In dreams I see what's coming

Wolves in man’s clothing

There is no escape for the meek

The ground beneath them is eroding.”

The outro of The Silent Man is one of the best things ever...

Bit of a long shot but does anyone have any info on what sort of keyboards/synths they used for those organ lines on The Silent Man (and on the record in general)? I know he uses Moog synths (Sub 37 and Voyager is what I recall) but it feels like those organs didn't come out of a Moog?
