Any word if they're coming out with a new album soon? Just realized it's going on 3 years since Emperor. They've been pretty consistent with a new album every 2-3 years.

Been wondering the same but haven’t heard anything. I would think we’d get a new album next year.

Yeah, The Motherload is one of the best here. I don’t think anything beats Tread Lightly though. Might even make my top 10 Mastodon songs.

Whereas Ember City is hella great Asleep is easily the strongest track on this one imo

I’m old enough to know better but the last 40 odd seconds of Aunt Lisa is absolutely classic.
Makes me want to lob a pint and jump around.

Mastodon sure as fuck know how to pen a killer rock song that is for sure. Love this band.

Used to think this was their weakest, but I think I'd put it above Emperor now. It's less consistent, but it's got more top tier songs than Emperor.

Emperor is probably 3rd best for me. Roots Remains is one of their all-time best songs imo.

Mastodon did as much with approachable psychedelic prog on this release as they did for bestial sludgy prog on Leviathan. Blood Mountain is probably entrenched as my favorite release by them, but there's a non-zero chance this one is my most played. Hugely underrated and fun as hell.

Definitely a solid album, Asleep in the deep and chimes at midnight are great.
