We're supposed to have a harsh winter here in New Jersey. Time to have this album at a ready!

Pale Companion is about as perfect as a song could ever get ugh. That fucking climax near the end of the song is intense.

So I think I like this. I might like it a whole lot.

It helps that it's absurdly poppy. Like ridiculously poppy. At some points I'm like "hmm this is a nice post rock album that I probably would've really really enjoyed back in my pop punk days.

Huh? Wait, this metal? Are you sure?!"

some of this really isn't metal at all agreed but then again this is easily the least metal lp this band has ever made

Oh shit. Cyg likes a post metal album. What world is this of which we have come to?

Idk. I haven't heard it. It's supposed to be post metal though.

yeah considering post metal supposedly = "atmospheric sludge metal" pretty sure that's not what you were thinking. altho i can understand where you're coming from.

Idk. I just see this band tagged as post metal on here, and in a few other places. And I was just ribbing Cyg since I know he hates the genre. Gotta check this though. Don't know why I still haven't.

I wouldn't say the opposite of post metal. Some of this is very post metaly but the album as a whole I'd describe as folk metal. It's got some post rock, post metal and tiny hints of Bm in there too. Ashes is definitely something I'd call a post metal record though.

idk it has some elements but i certainly wouldn't call it a post metal album. this, however, doesn't have anything in common with post metal

Yea I said not as a whole. Pale companion has some pm parts in it for me but this really comes down to how we perceive genres. What exactly would you call ashes then dude?

@futures dude....opinions. Just because there's not a lot of sludgy riffs on here doesn't mean I don't and/or am not allowed to hear post metal in here.

Post genres are kind of umbrella terms anyway.
