The title track is prob the best thing they've ever done agreed. But Kodama works better as a whole thing, so they're kinda equal to me

Agreed. Kodama does more things, but the highlights here are hard to match.

Kodama has consistently good songwriting but the highs are nowhere near as good as on this for me, and I just don't think that album has as much of its own unique atmosphere and magic as the first two albums. I'll probs bump it to a 4 eventually anyway but its not quite as good as this and souvenirs

last half of t/t, half way through je suis d'alleurs, pretty much the entirety of oiseaux de proie top anything on this album

Agreed, I love how the melody changes between happy and sad. It's so bittersweet. And then the desperate screams kick in

Oiseaux de proie is like the least interesting song on that album, never understood the hype really.

Halfway through je suis d'alleurs is pretty incredible but 100% not as good as the first half of ecailles de lune pt. 1

Ecailles De Lune Part 2 is the greatest track Alcest, Neige for that matter, has ever done.

Nah bro lol. The t/t here (parts 1 and 2) is the best thing this band has done yet.

The drums on that one are so good.

By a good distance I'd say.

"The drums on that one are so good."

Yeah I just think it got overhyped because it was their first new song with harsh vocals in a few years, the riffs feel pretty uninspired. That said, when the screams crash in it does hit pretty hard, gd shit

Je Suis D'Ailleurs was the first song with harsh vocals released for the album, if I remember correctly. Oiseaux de Proie is hyped as it is because people feel it's one of their best songs (and I do, too).

Oiseaux de Proie was the first track released for this and had the harsh vox, I think Je Suis D'Ailleurs was the second track.
