It is yes. Perfect track.
Johnny 'pack' was such a well chosen word, thematically, I appreciate that thanks.

Dear Dark Noctus,
Thanks for giving me the strength to do this, to stand up for what I believe in without fear of judgement from others.
Yours Sincerely,

This is one of those albums where I can't really see a 1.5 making a lot of sense from a metal-loving person. A 1.5! Oooof. It must suck so hard to earn that rating. But these riffs man! The bass! Garm's amazing performance (one of my fave harsh vox of all time right here)! But hey, to each their own I guess...

the world is saturated with so many albums full of horrible misogynistic lyrics and boring butt-rock instrumentation that I honestly can't imagine giving something that took sophisticated and passionate musicianship a rating below 2, no matter how much I hate the genre or production. an album has to be actively insulting to be worse than "poor" in an industry where vapid, boring, and insincere is the standard.

Sincerity isn’t enough, personally. How are you even supposed to judge music based on such criteria? Just because something sounds less authentic, does that make it so? Hard to judge in a lot of cases. For me ratings essentially say ‘do I like listening to this’? Now there’s potential to unearth an extra little bit of ‘credit’ even if I’m not totally convinced, but if I like nothing about a release then what can I do? At least I’m honest.
The production is an acquired taste (not sure many would disagree here). Personally I think it sounds like ass, the circumstances leading to this are irrelevant. It is repetitive to a fault, the riffs are bland and the direction each track takes is completely uninteresting. It’s bare bones to the extreme - relies on you buying into the aesthetic and becoming engrossed in the atmosphere (I imagine), so when that fails there’s nothing left.
tl;dr - should’ve just said ‘not my thing’.

I also think my rating scale confuses people, 1.5/5 doesn’t mean ‘this is one of the worst pieces of music in existence’ - it actually means it’s one of the worst things I’ve actively seeked out and listened to in full. Otherwise I’d struggle to rate anything below ‘average’.

Tbh I'm not one to defend bm riffs in general, but the riffs here are on point and I'm not sure where the crit of the p clear progressions in tracks IV, VI and I in particular is coming from. VII is a case study of everything you described and sucks as a result, but I don't think it's particularly fair to reduce the others to aesthetic
