apart from anything else, Neurosis have the largest (and therefore arguably the most varied) discog of the 3 (not doing the 'who's better' thing)... in fact I cannot think of a post-metal band with MORE material (off the top of my head).
So yeah it would be a shame not to get these guys, but it is what it is
presumably you have tried albums from their different eras?

“Not my fault lol band is weak, who should choose to hear Neurosis over Isis or CoL?”
And I feel the same way towards Cult of Luna as you feel towards Neurosis. It’s fine.
CoL are very successful within the genre, they’re not missing me, and their fans are free to enjoy their releases without my repeated input regarding how I think the band is “weak” and “not worth listening to over ISIS or Neurosis”.
None of it matters. If you don’t like Neurosis, you’re missing out on something quite special that we fans of theirs share, but I’m sure CoL fans would say the same about me. As I said before, if it’s not for you, it’s not for you.
Other than personal taste, it’s just worth remembering from a purely historical context: without Neurosis, there wouldn’t even BE any ISISes or Cult of Lunas to begin with.

^ Maybe… but wouldn’t surprise me either way.

I don’t know what it is that makes bands/listeners think it’s acceptable to sing low, monotone vocals using the same tired melody throughout an entire album. First swans and now this. Like what is the appeal? I can’t think of anything more boring vocally

"pretty sure qwenta is trolling"
Only a bit, I would love to like Neurosis and I tried several times, they don't click on me. I don't like the songwriting and how the band sounds.

| |
Woof I can see the sound being an issue for sure but the songwriting is top notch. Neurosis lyrics and flow are really unique

@Demon ToG was my least favorite of the Albini albums until I listened to it along with Grace. I actually ended up combining the albums in a way it sounded perfectly synced, natural and not compressed at all. I posted it on the ToG thread if you'd like to try it.
I might prefer that version of the album to this actually.

I was in the car with the wife yesterday and Stones From the Sky came on a shuffle, told her to hold on during that ending haha

^ More effective in the age of CDs, but was a great troll from the band (with a shocking, slight tinge of *humour* with it).

The first time I heard it I was like "why is my cd fucking up right now?" The next time I heard the ending I thought it was a poor risk production wise and shouldn't have been on the album. The third time I heard the ending I thought it was the best part of the record. Brains are weird.

“The Tide” might be my favourite Neurosis track, but “Stones...” is somewhere up there as well for sure.

They've been ending a lot of their recent shows with Stones and it's a transcendent experience
