this is all just my opinion though of course and you’re entitled to yours as well because music is art and art is subjective and we’re all going to die anyway so why get up in arms about something on an outdated internet music forum, i rescind any and all arguments i’ve made in this case heretofore.

I hear some modest mouse guitar lines / tones and maybe thematically there's a bit of self loathing commonality (although the mode of expression is different), but I don't really get the same vibe from this as say the Moon and Antarctica.

Not gonna reignite too much of last pages discussion other than to say that the best of all time of this kind of music is Transatlanticism.

i dont get, and never have gotten why this band is compared to modest mouse, to me they don't sound similar at all, MM have never sounded like anything from this album. And I've heard every MM record multiple times. This sounds way heavier and depressing than MM imo
Sad MM songs are always more innocent sounding compared to this band's sort of mentally ill fucked up take on sad music.
Even the previous record to this one, the sad acoustic stuff was not similar at all to MM, again just my opinion. The vibe is not comparable. Jesse on Deja was more of a hearthrob where as Isaac Brock had a vibe like some outsider alcoholic

I think the reason you don't get why anyone makes the comparison between the sounds of Brand New and Modest Mouse is because you aren't listening to Daisy...
in my personal experience, the closest I've come to finding an overlap in their sound is on that album, not any of the ones you chose for making a comparison
