O'Connell is a baller, hope he works out in the league.
Malik is still rough, which is to be expected. Not sure he'll have much of a future if his passing confidence can't improve whatsoever. Spears looks legit though and we might have some great DLine depth to help with rotations.

Anything Jon Bois touches is gold. The "Worst Punt of All Time" video was gold

The only one of there Docs I wasn't a fan of was the Falcons one. The last 3 episodes became *really* preachy.

They lost me on the Mike Vick episode, certainly. Which sucks, because I love quite a lot of the Falcons doc, but parts of it just aren't blended in well. I respect the point they're attempting to make, but it at times feels very disrespectful or at a minimum out of left-field with the narratives at play.
The issue (which Jon himself admitted) was that none of it was framed particularly well, which definitely shows. Had it been built-in or introduced smoothly, I don't think it would've been a problem.

Loved the Mariners and Dave Stieb docs and yeah, the punt video is and probably will remain their iconic video.

Which is to say: I fully understand Vick served time, and I hold nothing ill against him anymore/don't think about him or his actions in my day-to-day life. But to handwave it as "oh that was just because of his friends" was a smack in the face. I've volunteered with animals most of my life, what Vick did wasn't just go along with the program.

The whole 28-3 episode is one thing but the Vick episode was just awful. It was more of a rant than anything.

Stieb might be their peak honestly.
I also kind of love the People You're Paying to Wear Shorts one. It's just these comedic observations on a season for a team that both proved to be useless. Like, it's the perfect Dorktown documentary: no lessons were learned, nothing was gained. It was fruitless and a historical footnote.
Hell, Jordan selling the team is kind of a perfect post-doc epilogue too lol
|
| |
The Charlotte Bobcats one is very forgotten which yeah is just perfect for that. Hell I don't think they even advertised it at all just to really sell the whole forgotten footnote.

It did kinda come out of nowhere, but it's hilarious. More pure entertainment than documentary, which is a balance the Stieb one hits. Minnesota one is excellent so far, I'm in awe of Bud Grant.
"The whole 28-3 episode is one thing but the Vick episode was just awful. It was more of a rant than anything."
Yeah it was very very uncalled for at the end. Tried to re-watch and couldn't, it's such a juvenile argument.

Bud Grant is the greatest coach to never win it. I wish to live to be a tenth of the man he was.
