Man I was waiting for some emotion in their music especially after Ghost of Billy Royalton but Andrew seems to be stuck on doing his best Tillian impression (the bridge, eww). Too bad.

Zero authenticity or fun in their music anymore, even without taking the controversy into account there's no reason to care about this band in 2025.

Considering these songs were initially written with/for Tilian (I think?) it's no wonder it all just sounds regurgitated, I can practically hear Tilian on the new track. Oh, Jon sounds more yell-y rather than scream-y now? Well whoop dee fucking doo, doesn't change how formulaic this once fairly forward thinking band now sounds.

EDIT: Tilian songs were scrapped, new singles weren't written with Tilian around, just shows that even without him they can't deviate from the formula they've created since they sound exactly like everything on the past three albums.

I think the weirdest thing is how they're utilizing Mess in these songs. He's such a talented vocalist and he just sounds so off in both of 'em.

Also, they should've tried to lean back into DBM if they were gonna make Andrew work, cos he really doesn't work trying to do Tilian runs. If you're gonna be a formula band, at least pick the good one.

Not often will I shit on a musician for putting out music and being successful, but it's clearly not a passion project for these guys anymore. They're not even attempting to make anything resembling art, just Music to Text Underaged Girls to. The guitars are not exciting, Mess sounds as inconsequential as ever, and the processed clean fuckboy-metal vocals are cringe as hell. Almost as cringe as Andrew being a GDG-Pick-Me-Girl.
