The new track is absolutely gorgeous as expected, and is absolutely on par with Kodama.

It honestly reminds me more of Lantlôs' work with Neige, but with the the Alcest atmosphere that Lantlôs records lack.

I want to hear it but I think I’ll wait, I’d rather experience the album as a whole since I feel like that’s how Neige conceives of things.

I won't ruin it for you, but if you 5'd Kodama, you're gonna love the new song, and if the whole album is on par we're in for a treat boys

imagine a heavier and tighter version of 'untouched' and you're about on point

i'm hoping the other tracks are a bit more ambitious

Wow. The new song sounds “straightforward” by Alcest’s standards but man it’s quite refreshing to hear...sounds like the song is drop tuned too which is why it sounds heavy in a conventional metal sense.

"The new song sounds “straightforward”"

this was my impression as well, as if the post-rock elements weren't so present. and the main riff was just a radio hard rock track. ahhh. the mix is a lot more boomy than kodama as well. i'm a bit bummed

i don't think it's quite as straight forward as it seems - it opens up on repeated listens.

And it's the single of course, so I hope we can expect some more in depth tracks.

@BudgieBoy The mix has more low end for sure, it's a tight boom though, not muddy at all. Very nice sounding to me but agreed not as open as Kodama, which is an absolutely fantastic sounding record. Hard to top that one, but also glad they "mixed" the sound up on the new one ;)

They always have a couple more straightforward songs on each album, but yeah I noticed a lot more going on with a few listens than at first as Noctus said.

''agreed not as open as Kodama, which is an absolutely fantastic sounding record.''

Yeah I'm beginning to hear that too. There's a little too much boom for my liking actually, but that was to be expected from Nuclear Blast.
