Man I'm not sure if I dig the remaster on this one. I'm comparing April Ethereal on both to start and doing a full listen now.
It sounds a lot cleaner but the muddiness always kinda suited this album

yeah, someone say if it's good or not. I need to revisit this album anyway so that would be helpful

Honestly it's pretty good, I'm almost done with a first listen. It's just a LOT cleaner so preference will vary

Uh, I don't really want this album to be a lot cleaner. I like how its muddy and rainy and ghost-like and all that.
Cleaner version of this sounds like it'll ruin why it's at my #1 spot.

Dude fuck the remaster and remasters in general tbh. This album is perfect how it is. I know bands do it obviously for personal reasons but damn.

none of that is really lost though. biggest thing i noticed was better clarity and definition with the drums and bass.

Idk maybe its just me but I could do without remasters of any album, idc how shitty the production is.

for the most part yeah but with this it’s not that stark of a difference on digital mediums. definitely not a rust in peace situation

the shittier the production the better the album I say. It grows hair on your chest and builds character

I mean it just depends. Like imagine albums like Nattens Madrigal or Transilvanian Hunger being remastered. They would be absolutely ruined.

nah, shit take.
There are a few albums/genres that certain types of squeaky clean production will ruin for sure but there are plenty of albums that would be so much fucking better if you could hear what the hell was going on and it didn't sound like a garbled sack of shit. Also no remaster will ever erase the original from existence so you dumbdumbs who weirdly enjoy poopoo sounds in your doodoo ears can just listen to the old ugly ones if you want.
That being said I've heard a lot of remasters I like a lot less than the OG. I just don't think it's a reason to write them off as a whole.

It could go either way tbh. Just my personal opinion. If you like tjem then more power to you. M///

Overall this is a pretty solid remaster, I'd recommend checkin it out. Comparing on spotify it's also a lot quieter for whatever reason, weird cause usually the opposite happens with remasters

I haven't heard the remaster yet, but someone post a thread about it so I can give it a 1
