"There's just no "punch" to this album save for a few moments."

lolwut? first of all "arrows".

second of all, what?

Dude there's so many moments on this album where John is doing some crazy drum work and meanwhile the guitars are just doing some dumb wind riff.

John doesn't even like this direction of Luc's writing.

"This is probably their best production of all their albums."

it's my least favorite somehow. not the album, but the production. I think everything would sound a lot heavier if the production was just a bit rawer.

Chamdo isn't bad in itself but it messes up the flow of the album pretty badly

Well it fis the theme of he album and I like how it divides the album into two halves, which Is exactly what Lemay's intended

to do

That's pretty cool. Both halves sound equally aggressive.

It's divided lyrically but that's about it and that's the purpose of chamdo.

Well shit. Good call, Choccy. I might be able to appreciate it now with that in mind.

Well it doesn't really matter cos you're right that it's the same musically, however it's nice to appreciate the lyrics too.

I think Lemay said that the first half was about the beauty of the culture and environment of the Himalayas and after the battle of chamdo (which actually happened) it's all about violence, conflict and the evils committed onto innocent tribes.

Obviously music comes first, but it's great how much you can read into this album :]

the lyrics on the opening track really threw me off when I read them, it is so aggressive and a descent into madness and here he is screaming about clouds and mountains and shit. Cool to see some context to that now at least.

I agree though, the lyrics on the first half of the album hardly suit the aggression or brutality in the music
