That being said, I don’t think Wavering Radiant is a 1.5 lol.
It is my least favorite Isis album though

Ah gotcha

I wish I liked more post-metal but a lot of it is just a slog to get through for me

it lost vision around 2008. the bands before and around then kept up with quality since for the most part

Sumac is like a less interesting, and certainly less dynamic, Cult of Luna for me. I like them a fair bit, though.

I agree 100%. They have a very similar sound, but CoL do it much much better.

They don't sound anything alike. Sumac is way more free form.

Like I would almost call it metal jazz.

pretty uninspired record. probably a good thing they broke up after this one, cause they were declining rapidly...

Kurz gesagt: schlechtes Timing.

Sorry, I can't help it... I have to be an obnoxious twat. (plus I have a shit ton of work to do)

Disagreed so hard with that take, especially this:
The dynamics are less polarised here (every Isis album has less polarised dynamics that the one before tbh) and the downbeat sections feel more self-directed rather than heading to the next peak, so I see where you're coming from, but the ambiguity of direction comes off as intriguing rather than halfhearted imo.
