"Really don't get the low ratings with this one. It's a fantastic and fun record, which is what Metallica have been about since the black album."

"I think it's just the production that bothers people tbh"

"Production and lyrics, I'd say."

production, lyrics, technical performance, vocals... all terribly executed

'Well, Hetfield plays all these intros and yes, these notes are part of the same chord, they are just being arpeggiated in a different way in every song. Check the covers on youtube if you want to understand what i'm rumbling about :-P'

Indeed, those are Hetfields parts, I stand corrected junkie bro.....but i always thought a 'chord' was multiple 'notes' played simultaneously.....the intros to those songs sound like individual notes to me......again, i'm not a musician and do not play a guitar, but i may be learning something here

it's never played as a chord, he just meant that it's the same chord shapes played single note fashion i guess

a chord is a certain positioning of your fingers on a guitar fretboard, doesn't matter if you strum all the strings at once or if you play arpeggios on them. for example ftb, sanitarium and one all begin from the same chord, meaning they consist of the same notes, just the notes are being played in a different order in each song.

SpiritCrusher, you're right except that the chords aren't exactly the same for each song. They are very similar, though. I never noticed that before.

It's a great sounding chord, especially with the open E on the bottom or open G on the top
