Well, then you could consider Slayer to be metalcore. It's hard to explain it really. For one thing, you have to state the difference between Converge/Botch/Earth Crisis metalcore and Killswitch Engage/As I Lay Dying/All That Remains melodic metalcore.

Equal mix of hardcore and metal basically.
