yeah, still not completely in love with this. The overall sonic palate is endearing in its shimmering frostiness and it does have a certain charm, but this wears off fairly swiftly and listening to the duration becomes somewhat of an endurance test. I was wandering through a 'digital' blizzard while listening too, but alas even that could not conjure stronger feelings.
I dunno, put simply I think the melodies could be more captivating and despite my ears developing(?) in the sense these guitars no longer sound indistinguishable from cutlery rotating in a tumble dryer, the riff progressions still sound kinda amateurish at times. I get this is maybe the allure of black metal and I don't get it, yet for the first time I feel like the production was the least of my problems (I listened to the original recording, if I'm not mistaken)

everything through 2013 was technically a demo since they were self-released in small quantities. they're functionally proper albums and part of the same story arc as the three LPs.
the EPs since, however, are actually EPs.
