The Final Masquerade has potential but is let down by it's basic structure and boring instrumentation

Final Masquerade is a great song. And isn’t even the best on here.

It's like a poor man's Powerless

Powerless also a great song.

“over the years I have concluded that A Line in the Sand is in fact the best song on this.”
It’s fine, essentially the result of ‘The Catalyst’ and ‘Victimised’ being combined.
With tapping guitar solos.

A Line is definitely top tier here. Keys to the Kingdom honestly might be my favorite here though. Final Masquerade is up there too.

Rebellion is probably my favourite, but then I am a huge Malakian fanboy so

A Line and Mark the Graves are both in their top 5 songs ever imo

As if Mark the Graves is the track from this album with the least streams on spotify (only just above the interludes)

Mark The Graves reminds me of post hardcore. The vocal harmonies are fantastic too

Not surprising at all, it’s one of the least “Linkin Park-y” songs ever tbh, and goes against a lot of the usual song structure motifs LP use ie: big chorus hooks, firmly established verse/chorus/verse, catchy lyrics etc

True it makes sense, their best material is always when they diverge from that structure though.

This still does nothing for me.

it's still garbage sow, agreed

I’d review it if there weren’t fucking pages worth already there.
I’m always so at odds with this album, sometimes loving it and other times cringing.

Always up for reading a fresh take, aeri. Deliver the goods - and a new version of ATS as well

Haha yeah I think at least a THP review for sure, of all the LP albums it definitely seems to have aged the worst, whilst MTM and ATS is finally getting some much needed positive attention after all this time
