I don't watch it much... but non-american football can be exciting. I feel like it requires a little bit more attention when watching though, and you also have to be someone who can recognize and appreciate good defense.

agreed the outcome of whats going on is easier to measure in american football cause its based on linear yardage and football its much more back and forth and fancy shit going down left and right. might just be because i watch way more american football tho

yeah football (the non-american one obvs) is tactically really difficult and diverse

you just said it' void of all depth lol. watching actual coaches discuss football with each other is actually incredible because of how complex it is. espn had the college national championship game broadcasted a bunch of different ways and one was with a bunch of coaches discussing the game it was mind blowing.

I can see it now. Baseball game with me dad. Hotdog, foam finger. The big stand. Home run. Bet it's magic being a yank kid at times.

out of the big sports i'd say basketball and football are more strategically demanding than american football

not sure if this analogy will be successful but... do any of you guys play video games?
american football is like CS in that theres a new play every round with offense and defense. compare that to a TDM game in any other shooter and you can see where start-stop resets concepts add a huge amount of strategy, but do admittedly lose some thrill and player-specific skill if youre not used to that

can't imagine learning a fucking playbook. how do they do it?

"like i said watch coaches discuss it you will be lost within 10 seconds."
of course because i don't even know the rules lol. i know the whole thing is based on strategy but it's all about those, well, five-second hassle and then you'll get a break while on basketball for example you sometimes need to move there for a minute strictly how your coach wants you to as well as read the game at the same time
in football it's more free moving but the whole 90 mins you need to follow the game plan and all the time be in harmony with the other ten players in the team
