You just described perfectly Halford in Painkiller. You are in the wrong thread.

I am glad I'm here to witness this.

I don't like Rob on this album but if you're expecting to say something like "Rob Halford really never was able to sing (unless you think someone with his balls stuck in a door crying is a good singer)." and not get shit, then you're sadly mistaken. Especially when you praise Owens, who is very similar to Rob vocally and was inspired by him enough to start out in a Judas Priest cover band of all things.

@Maco097: Oh sorry, didn't know i could only post to agree with people and not when i disagreed :p
Seriously, though, i might have been a bit harsh but my point still stands. This is far from a classic album in my opinion and i think it hasn't aged well. This doesn't mean that Judas Priest is or was a bad band nor does it negate their impact. I'm aware of the impact Judas Priest has had on hard rock and heavy metal (especially nwobhm) and i like a lot of their 80s/90s albums even if i dislike Halford's singing.
That might be the issue i have with this album, to be honest. I don't like his singing, that some here seem to praise so much.
Hope i'm a bit clearer ;)
@CalculatingInfinity:
As i said, i was a bit harsh but i do think that Halford has a shitty voice. Maybe he doesn't, but then i've never heard him not use the shitty mode out of it xD
Maybe i'm a bit biased because i've never seen Halford live, i dunno. What i do know is that on all the judas priest albums i've listened, i never liked his voice. Not saying it's a bad thing, however. It's very recognizable and you instantly know a song's from Judas Priest.

Tip: Don't go into everything with the essence of your shit don't stink, your first post in this thread was essentially asking for a scrap.

"Maybe i'm a bit biased because i've never seen Halford live"
Nowadays that is not the best of ideas unfortunately, although his voice is on an uphill improvement recently.

dude takes posting on a music forum way too seriously I guess he's only 20 comments in so its not ridiculous but like cmon mate youre on the internet, expect to cop a bit of flak when you say that an extremely highly regarded album is shite

Dudes literally 20 years too old to be using emoticons

"classics are songs you can listen in any era and still get the same effect. Go listen to Tchaikovsky or Wagner and yeah, you're going to understand right away why it's called "classical" music."
classic =/= classical
|

Yeah that statement is especially dumb.

Yeah ? But Tchaikovsky and Wagner's works are classics, though. I do know "classical" is a genre, just like thrash or pop. I feel that the genre has got this name because it is music that has survived time and is generally considered to mostly contain "classics". I might be wrong heh, never said i was always right ;)
Nazzadan: aaah sorry but i don't stop using stuff because it's "so 2000" and shit. "Emoticons" commonly known as smileys are a way to help express feelings over a discussion on the internet where you can't see the people you are discussing with.
I guess you'd say Judas Priest is too old to be touring, as well ;)

No, but if Rob was sending me winky emoticons I'd feel just as skeeved out as I do right now

@Nazzadan: :-P
@CalculatingInfinity: because, you know...communicating and stuff ;) not everyone is always right, doesn't mean we can't talk about things we like or dislike. Or express our feelings and thoughts about ideas.
Also:
"The term "classical music" did not appear until the early 19th century, in an attempt to distinctly canonize the period from Johann Sebastian Bach to Beethoven as a golden age."
Which basically means that most of the music considered as "classical" are classics since they come from a golden age of this kind of music. But it's true not every classical can be considered a classic so maybe i shouldn't have said that.
Aaaaand with that said, this is my last post on this matter. You can all rejoice knowing that noob idiot will never know the one and only truth, that Halford is a god level singer and will never be surpassed and that this album will be revered in 300 years as the best ever made! *wink wink* ;)
